Rediscovering Self through HōM(e)
This is a subtitle for your new post

Confronting New Realities
I find myself often speaking with a friend who is navigating profound health challenges. With these changes, they are, perhaps for the first time, considering what life would look like if they lived solely for their own needs and happiness—not for family, not for clients, but for themselves. This is unfamiliar territory, and when they try to answer, they encounter a blank slate. Years of not asking this question have left them unsure of what they need to truly thrive.
The Weight of “Good Enough” Decisions
This theme echoes in the story of one of my clients. They bought their current house out of guilt, feeling obligated because their REALTOR® had devoted so much time showing homes—even though none felt quite right. The house they chose was merely “close enough,” and they knew it didn’t fulfill their real goals. After nearly a decade, only one item hangs on their walls as they never really moved into the home, but instead have just resided there. I am disappointed in my industry when I see such a vibrant family simply existing in their home, rather than letting their environment support the life they want.
Reclaiming Desire and Intention
Reflecting on these experiences, I’m driven to help both friends and clients rediscover themselves through their environment, home, and daily choices. Many Americans, as a form of survival, have shut out their true desires and accepted what they “should” want or what’s easily available. If a quiet voice suggests they’ve settled, it’s quickly muffled with thoughts like, “I can’t,” “later,” or “when I have more money.” So, we instead remain in the comfortable noise, telling ourselves, “This house is fine, and moving is hard!”
Finding Stillness
But what if we paused that noise? What if we put down our phones, stopped scrolling, and just spent five minutes in stillness? Would you be able to do it?
Last year, I started practicing yoga. At first, the final five minutes of quiet were maddening—my mind would immediately leap to my to-do lists and unfinished tasks. I was stuck in the busy hive of daily obligations. Now, I use that time to simply observe, letting my mind rest and noticing only what’s within myself. In that space, new ideas gently emerge, and answers come without force. For me, learning to stop pushing—both in business and life—has been transformative. I now cultivate, curate, and explore, living in a way that feels far less stressful.
Evolving Home Design
Do you remember Sears homes—the original pre-planned, accessible houses? They laid the groundwork for the “builder basic” homes common today, and perhaps marked the beginning of automated home design. Now, as lifestyles evolve, those basic homes are being transformed into personal retreats. Even entry-level buyers can enjoy custom touches thanks to resources like Amazon, Wayfair, and Target. A thoughtful combination of colors, hardware, lighting, and finishes can elevate a simple house into a living space that genuinely reflects who you are.
